How Does A Former Television Reporter - Turned Military Wife - Wind Up In The Dip Business?
It all began one Christmas...My husband and I were newlyweds and I had recently traded in my television career for the well-traveled lifestyle of a military bride. It was a good trade, but an expensive one. Our single income meant either fewer names on the gift list or a very creative solution. So, I invested in a couple pounds of spices and started mixing. That Christmas, we shared the first batch of Festive Party Dip with everyone on our list!
And that’s where I thought the story would end... Instead, it was just the beginning! By New Years Day, we received several calls requesting “more dip, please”. I was quick to offer my five pound recipe, but friends and family were much more interested in the “already mixed” version. So, I made more dip. In fact, it seemed the more dip I made, the more requests I received!
After several years of making dip just for fun, my next door neighbor said, “I’m moving in 6 months. I need to know that I can get your dip whenever I run out without having to ask for it. It’s time to package it and sell it. If you don’t want to do the selling, I will do it for you”. And she did! I then created the Tomato Basil and Spinach Vegetable flavors to accompany the Original Dill.
Our next military move took us to Germany. I was pretty sure that was the end of our dip business. I could not have been more wrong. Tens of thousands of packets of Festive Party Dip found admirers all over Europe! During our three year assignment, another neighbor headed up the Festive Party Dip “sales team” — all military spouses, all working for dip. Never was there a more dedicated group. Beth Anne’s Festive Party Dip became a well-known name among the military families overseas.
Last summer, we returned to the United States where we met an incredible graphic artist — who also happens to be a military spouse. She designed the Mardi Gras style packaging for the dips. Now the fanciful appearance matches the celebrated quality and flavor of Festive Party Dip.
Today, I still create each new flavor in my very own kitchen. It’s then taste-tasted by a panel of experts: my husband, our family and friends. I hope you, too, discover the magic in each packet of my Festive Party Dip. And don’t forget to share it with those you love... according to my sources, it makes a great gift!
Sincerely,
Beth Anne |
